Dr. Rachel Bletstein-Quiroga, a native of West Bloomfield, MI has a passion for both playing and teaching piano. She received her Doctoral of Musical Arts degree in Piano Pedagogy at the University of South Carolina under the tutelage of Phillip Bush. While at USC, she was a graduate assistant, collaborating with instrumentalists and vocalists. Additionally, she taught private piano lessons at the University of South Carolina through the Center for Piano Studies. In May 2018, she completed her dissertation, A Theoretical and Stylistic Analysis of Paul Ben-Haim’s Five Pieces for Piano, Op. 34 and Piano Sonata, Op. 49. She began her research after traveling to Israel in 2016, where she became very interested in Israeli and Middle Eastern music.

Rachel received her Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from Bowling Green State University where she was a teaching assistant in group piano working with undergraduate music majors. Rachel also holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.

Rachel performed in competitions in the Detroit area including performing at and attending Interlochen Arts Camp for 5 summers. In 2014, Rachel traveled to the island of Corfu, Greece to participate in the Piano Plus Festival where she performed at Ionian University.

After completing her degrees, Rachel moved back to her hometown in Michigan and was appointed as Adjunct Assistant Professor at Madonna University.  At Madonna University, Rachel specializes in Applied Piano, Piano Pedagogy, and Improvisational Piano. Additionally, Rachel teaches piano lessons at Cranbrook Schools and out of her home in West Bloomfield, MI.
